Kosice (2013) - The Organisation

On behalf of the city of Košice, the project team successfully presented its project “Košice Interface 2013”, and won the European Capital of Culture 2013 title. Project “Košice Interface 2013” in its basic structure was approved by the City Council of Košice on October 25, 2007, and subsequently, by its decision in the City Council Resolution no. 279.

The City of Košice established a non-profit organisation with the primary aim to prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate the project Košice – European Capital of Culture 2013 approved by the international selection board on September 9, 2008 in Bratislava. The City of Košice established a non-profit organisation, approved its deed of foundation and statutes, and appointed the members of the board of trustees, supervisory board, and director by the Košice’s City Council Resolution no. 701. District bureau of Košice registered the non-profit organisation Košice - Európske hlavné mesto kultúry 2013, n.o. (abbreviated name Košice 2013, n.o.) on December 23, 2008 and assigned it the BIN 3558 3461. Article III. of the Deed of Foundation determines the description of public and community services, which the non-profit organisation has been established to render, as follows:

a) creation, development, protection, restoration, and presentation of spiritual and cultural values,
b) education, fostering, and development of physical culture,
c) research, development, scientific and technical services, and information services,
d) environmental development and protection, protection of health of general population
e) services facilitating regional development and employment.
