ASSOCIATION LILLE HORIZON 2004

From January 2000 to the present overview, the Lille 2004 event has been managed by the Association Lille 2004. Presided by Martine Aubry, Mayor of Lille, it boasts 42 board members regrouped within three colleges (cultural, economic and institutional).

PUBLIC AUTHORITIES

The full complement of public authorities - Europe, the State, the Region, the departements, the Communaute urbaine and all the partner towns - embraced the Lille 2004 project. Outstanding financial input, a grand-scale information network and the (co)production and (co)realization of events. The contribution of seven Belgian communes saw participation transcend national borders. Lille 2004 is the first European Capital of Culture to spread out over such a large geographical zone.
