A city more than a thousand years old, with its imposing ruined fortress and unique topographical location which over the years has grown into a lovely European centre; gentle landscapes with beautiful churches and picturesque villages where time seems to have stood still; remarkable industrial regions, and vineyards, whose reputation extends beyond the borders: in 1995 these will provide the framework for “Luxembourg, European City of Culture.”
