The need of a more direct and efficient collaboration between the European capitals of Culture has lead to the creation of an organization that regrouped only the representatives of the most recent CCs and the ones designated for the future.

The importance of the overall European project, enhanced by the new rules established by the Commission, created an increased interest also on an academic level and the University Network of Capitals of Culture (UNeECC), dealing with the subject and offering related studies, was created.

Other cultural organizations with a wider cultural activity, like, EcOC, the Cultural Network of Local Authorities “Les Rencontres”, “A Soul for Europe” and the “European Cultural Parliament” deal increasingly with the Capitals of Culture in different ways.

An exchange of culture between public authorities or private sector entities dealing with the Capitals of Culture can have only a positive impact for the promotion of the idea and the improvement of the quality of the projects but is also very productive for the archiving and documentation, which is the aim of the Documentation Centre of the Capitals of Culture.
