The Turku 2011 programme is the most important element of the Capital of Culture. The Capital of Culture year will comprise a total of 150-200 projects and numerous individual events.

The Turku 2011 Foundation provides partial funding for the programme content. The projects and events will form an interesting and diverse programme that comprehensively involves different cultural fields and encourages interaction between these fields.

The projects included in the programme will be different cultural projects that may be started before the year 2011 or be fully realised during the Capital of Culture year. There will be exhibitions and events as well as community and development projects. Negotiations with the projects will be conducted during 2009.

To support the implementation of programme projects, the Turku 2011 Foundation will offer assistance through the production support services.

The projects of the Capital of Culture year will be implemented by private individuals and artists as well as numerous cultural institutions, companies, organisations and associations, universities and research institutes. Many projects will be implemented as extensive international co-operation.

The programme of the Capital of Culture year will provide events, occasions and experiences to the whole of Turku and Southwest Finland. Furthermore, Live2011.com will improve the accessibility and international visibility of the programme for example through programme recordings and live webcasts.

The full programme will be published in 2010.
