Monitoring Commission for the National Programme “Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009” and Millennium of Lithuania Programme.
Under Resolution No. 119 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania dated 6 February 2008, the Monitoring Commission for the National Programme “Vilnius - European Capital of Culture 2009” and Millennium of Lithuania Programme headed by the Prime Minister was established.
The Commission carries out monitoring of the implementation of the National Programme “Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009” and Millennium of Lithuania Programme in order to ensure fluent performance of these two programmes. The Commission consists of 34 persons.
Co-ordinators of the National Programme “Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009” Under Resolution No. 150 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania dated 6 February 2008, the Ministry of Culture, in co-operation with Vilnius City Municipality, was assigned the task to co-ordinate implementation of the National Programme “Vilnius - European Capital of Culture 2009”.
PI Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009
On 28 September 2006, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania founded public institution “Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009”. The public institution was assigned the task to implement the National Programme “Vilnius - European Capital of Culture 2009”. It started operation in October 2006. The management bodies of PI Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009 are the General Meeting, the Board and the Manager, Director.
The Board The Board of PI Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009 approves annual cost estimates and cost estimates for specific events and projects drafted by the institution, reviews the institution’s annual accounts, operating reports and plans, follows up on their implementation and approves the organisational chart of the institution.
